The June
Kick-Off Party was a HUGE success, great
turnout! Congratulations to all the Fishing
Tournament winners and many thanks the Chef
Pete Wagner and Sous Chef Lesly Wagner for
all their efforts! Also, thank you to Sue
Smith for the great job she did pulling the
party together!
Also, the Early Summer Progressive Dock
Party was a great night of dockside fun.
Thank you, Jennifer Ludlow, for organizing
the boaters and getting the party going!
Can you believe it’s July already?? With
the long Independence Day weekend
approaching, remember to close out your
weekend activities at the Commodore’s Grill
on Sunday, July 6th. (Family
event – signature bar.)
Adults, save the dates! Both Fridays, July
11th and July 27th.Friday, July 11th,
Martini lounge night, 6 to 10 p.m. Need I
say more?? Enjoy an icy cold martini and
light bite choices poolside. Great way to
start your weekend!
Friday, July 27th, 7 to 11 p.m.,
Caribbean Pool Party! This annual GYC
summer event is always a good time! Music
poolside and terrific buffet, all for $15
per person, member/guests. BUT you have to
let us know you’re coming! This event can
only happen with an advance head count, so
let us know by July 18th.
Tickets sold in advance via mail or Pay Pal.
Families, save the dates! July 12th
and July 18th.
Saturday, July 12th, is the night
for Guilford Fireworks, which YOU can see
right from GYC! The pool will be open late,
as well as our incomparable BACKYARD PATIO
for your dinner convenience! Just BYOB and
some side dishes, and you’ve got an instant
party!
Friday, July 18th, Family Movie
Night! Bring your own beverage,
blankets/chairs and snacks, and we’ll bring
the popcorn machine!

2008 GYC Ladies
Sailing Night
We had a great time at the
first Ladies Sailing Night last Thursday,
July 10. It worked out well to meet on “D”
dock and be able to sail just north of the
slips for a while as the participants got
comfortable on unfamiliar boats (then later
we headed out past Chaffinch Island).
Sailing in that part of the river is not
possible at low tide, so we’re revising the
schedule accordingly: Ladies’ Sailing
Nights will now be held every other week –
so the next planned night is July 24,
then August 7, with a final session
on August 21. What we lose in
quantity wiht this revised plan will be more
than offset by the
high quality of the nights!
If you missed last Thursday you missed a
spectacularly beautiful evening on the
water, and a fun informal après sail get
together on “D” dock. Don’t miss the boat(s)
on our remaining dates.
2008 GYC Ladies Sailing
Night – Revised Schedule
When:
Every other Thursday
Evening beginning Thursday July 10 through
August 21, from 6:30 PM until dark – meet on
“D” dock
–
No sailing experience is
needed. Sail as much or as little as you
like.
–
We’ll have a brief dockside
lesson in the basics of sailing
–
Bringing along refreshments
is encouraged
–
Please do bring a lifejacket
–
High School age and older
–
A $5 donation/tip per
participant per night for our US Sailing
certified
instructors is suggested.
If possible, please email Tom Davis (tom@ncloth.northsails.com)
to indicate your intention to participate
(we can then make sure we have enough boats
ready to go), and to be put on our GYC
sailing email distribution list for further
specific plans and announcements.
